Dental Assisting Program

Dental assistants work primarily in dental offices and other healthcare settings. Americans are placing great importance on better oral health care. The dental sciences have responded with better oral health care products and stronger, longer-lasting restorative materials. With the increase in the demand for better oral health, dentists need highly skilled employees who excel at technical procedures while possessing excellent people skills.
This Dental Assisting Program helps prepare learners to function more effectively within the field of dental health. The program deals with vital information regarding the dental profession, including dental ethics, interpersonal skills, dental terminology, dental records management, Practice Act laws, patient interactions, and basic finance-related skills.
Upon the completion of this program, students will be able to:
- Provide assistance in the dental office in case of an emergency
- Complete basic coding and billing, as well as process insurance forms
- Describe how to perform various procedures of dental assistance
- Describe a professional dental assistant’s role in dental care
- Function in many dental clerical and administrative positions effectively
- Identify various dental instruments, as well as their use and functions
- Manage health records and information according to privacy policies
- Be knowledgeable in managing practice finances
Admission Requirements:
- Must be at least 18+ years of age.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED or pass a Wonderlic SLE aptitude test
- Have all immunizations and health records current and up-to-date
- Must be able to pass a criminal check background and a drug test
- Copy of BLS/CPR certification
National Certification: Students who complete this program will have the opportunity to pursue the Dental Assisting National Board Radiation Health and Safety (DANB RHS) exam.
